Course Goals:

The use of proportional counter, alpha spectroscopy and liquid scintillation counting system to analyze total alpha- total beta in environmental samples, the calibration of systems, preparation, and counting of water samples and calculation of activity and uncertainty of these samples.

Course Learning Outcomes:

Students who pass this course will be able to calibrate proportional counter, alpha spectrometry and liquid scintillation counting system, prepare water sample for these systems, separate the radionuclide by electrodeposition technique and determine the total alpha-total beta activity in proportional counter and liquid scintillation counting system, radionuclide activity in alpha spectrometry with its uncertainties
