Course Goals:
To explain the chemical characteristics of radionuclides and the factors that affect their chemical forms when separated from their aqueous solutions, to teach the separation methods to separate the radionuclide in the sample from interfering radionuclides and matrix elements, to prepare counting source and to teach the determination the chemical efficiency and the radiochemistry of selected radionuclides.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Students who pass this course will be capable of practicing the separation of radionuclides from a sample due to their knowledge of “the chemical properties of radionuclides, the factors that affect their chemical forms, the techniques used in separation of radionuclides and the radiochemistry of selected radionuclides”. Students also will know how to determine the chemical efficiency and to transfer the sample to the source to measure the activity of radionuclide in the sample.
